We are pleased to announce that we obtained the prestigious Silver certification in Leather Working Group as proof of our commitment to reach high levels of qualitative standards respecting the environment.
Leather Working Group (LWG) is an international, no-profit membership organisation and responsible for the world’s largest leather sustainability program.
LWG was born in 2005 from an idea of well-known brands such as Adidas, Clarks, Ikea, Nike, Marks & Spencer, New Balance and Timberland and leather goods manufacturers ,who came together with the goal of creating a model that would be fully dedicated to sustainability in the leather industry. Today LWG is composed of over 1300 members from across the leather chain and offers different certification protocols that are different depending on the role you play in the leather production chain.
The protocol obtained by FL is the following: Commissioning Manufacturer Audit Protocol. The purpose of this protocol is to evaluate the environmental performance of a facility that subcontracts 100% of its leather production. The protocol is designed to audit a manufacturing system, covering both the commissioning manufacturer and subcontractors, that is equivalent to auditing a conventional leather manufacturer. The audit specializes in several points, one of them is the traceability, which allows our items to be 77.2% traceable. Traceability is just one of the 11 aspects that were analyzed and verified during the audit.
Sustainability and environment responsibility are priorities for FL Leather since ever, therefore we decided to get the LWG membership, to clearly highlight this value.
It was really hard working cartification, but we are really proud to get silver.
